I love soups. I love drinking/ slurping soups.
Most of all, I enjoy collecting soup recipes.
I'm Cantonese by the way and that, by itself, explains why I have this fascination for soups.
The Cantonese are manic about their soups. And what goes into them.
Good soups for the Cantonese may look like plain old chicken stock to the uninitiated.
But there's goodness in them soups.
And that's what this blog is about. Soups. Starting with recipes, how-tos, herbs (Chinese herbs) and lots more.
If you like cooking, enjoy soups, then The Soup Queen is for you.

People always ask why do the Cantonese have a more beautiful skin? They drink lots of soup. Even there are few types of fishmaws - for beauty, to strenghten your bones and etc.....
Yes, I think one of those familiar things in my life - perhaps an analogy too - is that my grandmother's house always HAS soup no matter what or when. The soup is simmered for hours and everyone is invited to drink some, or drink lots! Grandma always urged us to "take soup" when we complain that we have no appetite for rice. Other than that, Cantonese are finicky about water. Have to drink lots of that so perhaps that helps with detoxing the body.
I made that soup once. You have to soak the dried cabbage first. Next, bring a pot of water to boil and add the carrots, dried oysters (soaked first to soften) and chicken bones. Once that comes to a nice boil, you can add in the dried cabbage. I was advised to add dried tangerine peel to this soup to harmonise the soup. Anyway, not a favourite soup so I rarely make it.... LOL.
